Glasfibre optics carry the sensorsignal over considerable distances therefore allowing to place the sensor electronic in protected zones, leaving only the robust sensor eye at the point of measurement.
Sensorik Austria is Austria´s only sensor manufacturer having a glasfibre fabrication by its own. So we´re able to combine and configure sensor and glasfibre optics in a way that optimally serves our costumers needs.
Extremely robust glasfibre optics with length up to 25 m or for temperatures up to 270° C are very common to us. At request we manufacture glasfibre optics for still higher temperatures.

Glasfibre optics are highly transparent fibres of glass (the often used transparent plastic fibres are not suitable for industrial applications), which are coated by glass with lower refractive index.
The fibres consist of the cernel, the coat glass and a protection layer. The coat layer with its lower optical refractive index effectuates a total reflection of the light thus leading the light signal in the cernel of the glasfibre. The outmost layer protects the fibre from mechanical and humidity. Glasfibre optics used in the sensoric field are different from those in the telecom industry; they are working according to the so called stage index principle. Sensorik Austria only applies glasfibre optics of highest quality.
